My Wishlist for LOs
You girls are amazing artists is in your own right, so I already know you will astound me with whatever you do! But here's a little list of some things I appreciate seeing on any LO, especially LOs using my products!
- Shadowing... Most of you I selected because you have excellent shadowing techniques. I strive to create elements and paper textures that mimic RL supplies, but only really good shadowing will make them truly shine. I'm a paper scrapper at heart, and the ONLY reason I fell in love with digi, was because of designers that started selling extracted elements and textured papers in styles that reflected real paper supplies. To that end, I adore accurate shadowing on LOs, because it's that final touch that makes the whole thing POP. I love it when a LO makes me wonder if it's paper or digi!
- Scale... I'm guilty of making rather largish elements and not always resizing them to an accurate size, because I don't want to limit scrappers to only small elements. It's easy to make something smaller without loss of resolution, but making something bigger can result in a blurry mess. Sometimes you want an oversized button, but for the most part it looks much more realistic when everything is resized appropriately. When the scale of the elements are off, it throws the whole balance in the LO off. Do you all prefer pre-scaled elements, or do you like having the option to re-size things yourself?
- Photos....I'm a sucker for black and white photos, or funky cross-processed pics with a vintage feel and great lighting...but more than that, I like a photo I can SEE. I know the current trends are minimalist pages with lots of white space or amazing layers of clustered elements, which are both very stunning....but it makes me sad when the photo is shoved in there as an afterthought. I really like it when a LO can showcase a photo that balances itself against the elements and papers used, and still stand out on its own.
- Text on Patterned Paper....This is one of my personal pet peeves. You'll learn that I have a passion for journaling on pages, and I love to read the little snippits of words that flesh out the feeling behind a LO. But when the words are typed out on a crazy background and are unreadable, I feel like I'm missing out on a vital part of the LO. Plus, it makes it hard to show off fonts when you can't see the words, kwim?
- Theme scrapping.....Even though I try not to, I get sucked into making theme kits quite often. BUt I try to pick themes that can be interpreted in different ways. My 'Light Up The Sky' kit is one example. Fireworks can be applied to lots of different LO topics...falling in love, self-confidence, a crying baby (LOL), a rambunctious kiddo, etc. I'd love to see LOs that stretch the kit further than the obvious theme.
- Hybrid Projects....This is something I'd love to explore further, and any hybrid projects you can incorporate my products into would be awesome! I've been considering creating a line of products designed specifically for printing, and if there are any of you that do a lot (or any) hybrid projects, let me know! I'd love to know what sort of things you'd like to see in that department.
- Quick Pages....I would like to start offering these in the shop and as newsletter incentives, so if any of you specialize in this, holler at me!

all sounds good...
i prefer to resize ellies myself... i like to do my own thing and often use them differently than they were probably intended.
i don't mind if a kit is themed or not, as long as there is a good variety of elements (recoloring the same flower 5 times does not equate 5 different elements - imho) and loads of amazing papers that can work together to create everyday pages.

I totally agree....I usually try to rein in the recoloring bug, LOL, since most scrappers can do that themselves. Although I went a bit hog-wild on the last kit, LOL! And I am all about the multipurpose papers thing. I usually only add 2-3 themey papers at most and the rest are usually a collection of simple patterns. I really like versatility and try to make kits useful for lots of different things.

Just based on your last kit, it was right down my ally! I LOVE stitching and greenery. I LOVED that you had a good assortment of both!!

I love this list. And I will say a time or 2 I have journaled on a patterned paper, but that was only because what I journaled was personal and I really didn't want anyone to read it...lol. This list rocks!

I understand that for privacy issues, for sure! But it can sometimes distract from the LO itself. I've actually swapped my journaling out with song lyrics or poetry on more private LOs, just so it doesn't detract from the overall look.
